DR. WITOLD DANILOWICZ

Dr. Danilowicz is an attorney at law, admitted to the practice of law in Poland and formerly also in the states of Louisiana and Texas in the United States. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Wroclaw (Poland) (M.L., 1977) and the Louisiana State University Law Center in Baton Rouge, LA (J.D. (1985), LL.M. (1985)). He also completed postgraduate programs in international law at the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague (The Netherlands) (1981) and The Hague Academy of International Law in The Hague (The Netherlands) (1982). He received the doctorate in law in 2018 from the Polish Academy of Sciences.

He began practicing law in 1985 at Vinson & Elkins law firm in Houston, Texas, first as an associate and then as partner. In 1993 he joined international law firm White and Case as partner and was the founder and managing partner of its Warsaw office until 2012. He then set up his own law practice. Since 2017 he has been cooperating with the German law firm Noerr as Of Counsel.

In his practice he specializes in mergers and acquisitions, as well as in international commercial and financial transactions. He advised clients on investment projects in several jurisdictions, including Poland, United States, Romania, Zambia, Syria, Congo, Lithuania, Belarus and the Ukraine. He has been recognized as a leading lawyer in Poland by various Polish and international legal rankings.

He participated in numerous arbitrations both as a counsel and arbitrator. In several cases he acted as sole arbitrator. He is listed as arbitrator on the lists maintained by the Arbitration Courts at the Polish Chamber of Commerce and Confederation Lewiatan in Warsaw. On numerous occasions he served as member of an arbitral panel and acted as a sole arbitrator in proceedings conducted under the auspices of International Center for Solving International Disputes (ICSID), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Paris as well as in ad hoc arbitrations.

He has authored numerous publications (including two books) on a variety of legal topics. He was also one of the founders and longtime president of the Polish Association of Law Firms. He currently serves as chairman of its Council. In recognition of his contribution to the development of the rule of law and legal culture he was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order Polonia Restituta by the President of the Republic of Poland in 2015.
